User friendliness improvement

I am in the process of adapting ERPnext , it’s so rich in features but the biggest improvement that need to be done on it is issue of customisation of forms and others things it requires a lot of technical expert, a programmer with knowledge of python .I have been in the ERP industry for a long time now and l sell different ERP systems and ERP systems are installed mostly by people who are not technical mostly accountants they may require tech experts in challenging matters only otherwise they implement and trian everything without an expert what’s needed mainly on ERP systems is accounting knowledge more that programming knowledge so l think improvements need to be done there l want to see ERPnext having 300 users per month not per annum

People who market ERP systems are accountants not programmers so if you focus on accountant u can increase the user base it can even tripple and also u can look at the structures of other big ERPs and see how they arrange data example check with sage pastel

@francis1 can you share a few specific places you want to see improvement?

Areas that need improvement
1.User interface group anything to do with sales under one tab from sales reports or any reports that have anything to do with sales like debtors etc do the same for accounts accounts payable and others

2.make some nice defaults invoice templates that can easily be put logo without any hustles without any need for anyone to go to code

3.Make some defaults user interfaces for example or sales invoices and purchases the number of items you need to remove before you start transactions are too many and l don’t think it’s necessary to be putting them because they don’t apply to a standard user

4.There is know user manual for using the system maybe a pdf would be best

5.Hope you will not be offended with this one, if you look at other big internationally recognised systems they come with all these standard features and you don’t even need a programmer to assist you in anything and if l look at them they actually don’t even provide many features that you provide if you look at look at QuickBooks and sages pastel you will see what l mean l think you may need to get of demo of those systems and look at their interfaces

6.like l have mentioned above ERP systems are marketed by accountants with no programming background at all which makes it difficult to implement without programming knowledge

When you go for demonstration to client the questions they will ask are non technical they are all accounts based

7.You need to increase reports there are few reports in the system .

8.Overally l would say Erpnext is super systems but need to improve on those areas

Hi @francis1,

ERP systems are installed mostly by people who are not technical mostly accountants

In which industry or how big are your customers usually, when you say that the decision for/against an ERP system is made by the accountant?

1.User interface group anything to do with sales under one tab from sales reports or any reports that have anything to do with sales like debtors etc do the same for accounts accounts payable and others

You can organize or make available all relevant functions via workspaces.

2.make some nice defaults invoice templates that can easily be put logo without any hustles without any need for anyone to go to code

The problem may be that, in addition to the different legal requirements in each country, the individual CI is also always required, which is why, in my opinion, you can never get around a minimum of customizing/implementation for such customer-facing documents.

4.There is know user manual for using the system maybe a pdf would be best

Here, too, a universal manual is not necessarily helpful, since the relevant scope of functions varies greatly depending on the processes used. Furthermore, keep in mind that a PDF is only as up-to-date as the date it was created - we use “Help Articles”, for example, for best practices and general notes for our users, which you could take a look at if necessary.

6.like l have mentioned above ERP systems are marketed by accountants with no programming background at all which makes it difficult to implement without programming knowledge

Probably ERPNext is not the right product for your clientele - maybe you should have a look at https://frappebooks.com/.
