Updates for September

Dear all,

As you might have noticed, we released a few updates recently.

Here is a quick summary.

http://erpnext.com/open-day-september-2012.html

We had promised releases will get smoother, but clearly we are still learning.

best,
Rushabh

The first thing that I have noticed is that the fonts and spacing has increased substantially thereby increasing the amount of scrolling needed for doing things.

Other changes are actually much awaited and welcome. Also I am unable to find a way to send the newsletter in the system.

Aditya,

The newsletter is in "Support" module (I know its a wrong place - will move it to selling soon!)

Which places did you find scrolling longer?

Thanks Rushabh for the information on the Newsletter.

I would like to inform you that in Newsletter, it would be great if there could be a way to add a custom list of email IDs which we could make in the system itself. This is because certain newsletters needs to be sent to those customers only who are not buying from us or are kind of in hibernation.

The thing about scrolling is that it is generally in the Selling Page and other similar pages where the line spacing between two rows like Lead and Opportunity is greater than what it used to be earlier, we could do with lower line spacing between the different modules.

Hi Rushabh,

update no 2: Bulk Import of Journal Vouchers is much appreciated!

Sorry to see you abandon the work on version 3 but with all the updates it will automatically be a new version...

Perhaps the reduction of lines of code that you'll had planned needs to be done.

Just wanted to clarify that in my case a requested update can be delivered any time in a 6-12 month horizon as long as its been taken seriously or someone explains that it is not necessary or cant be done which is fine too. Hope that reduces some pressure.

Look forward to your intended work for this month.

Best regards,
Sonal

yes its on my mind too, you should be able to send Newsletter to Lead / Contact based on status..! That will give incentive to maintain the Lead / Contact status too!!

Sonal,

Thanks :)

On version 3: doing something 2nd time, hopefully makes in much faster!

On roadmap:

We have already finalized the design for accounts-inventory integration - that will make the Accounts module even tighter with accurate values for Stock-in-Hand and Cost-of-Goods-Sold (Purchases) and is a long pending feature request.

After that we plan to release the Item Variant Generator.

Then production / HR modules. Production is really the bottleneck module right now. HR and Projects need work to become more usable.

After that its to Robert's long pending web-shop. Before that we will have to redesign the tax / discount calculations...

Maybe fit in mutli-lingual somewhere in the middle....

There is a lot to be done. Better to think one day at a time!

best,
Rushabh
