Stock adjustment due to spoilage

Pls can you direct me to where i can get some information on how to adjust the stock to cater for stock spoilage?

You can track spoilage by creating purchase return,

or you can create another warehouse to maintain spoilage and make stock entry to that warehouse,

How can i create the purchase return such that the supplier will not be liable for a credit? The spoilage was due to our error.
