SMS feature

#1
I want to learn more about the SMS feature. Is it possible to receive SMS and have it pipe right into ERPNext? i.e. for support or customer questions received via SMS?

Note:

If you are posting an issue,

  1. We should be able to replicate it at our end. So please give us as much information as you can. Please see it from the point of view of the person receiving the communication.
  2. Paste your code at http://pastebin.com or http://gist.github.com and send only the URL via email
  3. For sending images, use http://imgur.com or other similar services. Do not send images as attachments. Links are good. Same goes for any file you are going to send.

ERPNext doesn't have an SMS receiving feature. As of today, you are the only one who has even thought of it :)

If you think it is good feature, please raise a github issue.

Github issue raised https://github.com/webnotes/erpnext/issues/1164

I'm considering a workaround:
  • Forward all SMS to email piped into ERPNext (using an Android app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinywebgears.relayme&hl=en)
  • Allow users to respond via SMS in ERPNext... but this leads to two questions:
1. Is there a quick way to send an SMS in ERPNext? For example, click a "Send an SMS" button which shows a messaging box where a text can be sent
2. Is there an SMS log stored, and is it sortable (or at least exportable to CSV) by phone number?

I think this would be a great way to track communications with customers and suppliers, especially in markets where email is not the main messaging tool.

I found an SMS Log form/list but it's empty after successfully sending out SMS. Also, the Communications Log has an option for SMS medium, but is this just a manually selected field value?
