I remember another user here on the forum connecting ERPNext to Raspberry Pi devices in a relatively new module of ERPNext for Agriculture. If you do a forum search on the oldest Argiculture module posts you should be able to find him with a little reading.
He was doing automated plant management with RPi devices and some robotics. I am sure he could point you in the right direction.
