The Account Types like Debtor and Creditor is used for tracking the Customer’s Receivable and Supplier’s Payable. Hence if you use Debtor and Creditor account anywhere, you will have to also mention the specific party (like Customer / Supplier) for whom you are making this posting.

Party and Party Type for Account to process payroll

Which account have you selected as “Default Payroll Payable Account”? The account type for the account should not be “Payable”, it should be blank. After making it blank, system will not ask for party and party type.
