How to add buying and selling price to an item

We are new to setting ERPnext and we are using v12 in our production (We have a sandbox that is running v13). Both are running on unbutu and we are accessing the database via the web browser on Windows 10 Pro.

We have entered some items into our inventory and when we did we added a price in for our cost.

We looked at where we can set the price to sell but we don’t know how to determine that.

Based upon the documentation and us poking around, we believe that we need to do two Item Prices to one item.

Am I correct in my deduction or am I doing something wrong?

That is correct. If you want both a Default Purchase Price, and Default Sales Price, then you would create 2 rows in Item Price:
