Gross profit in Sales order

I have seen in latest update the gross profit in sales order is added in row. but when we are entering the item , it is not editable field. It should be editable field to insert the gross margin

@Hiten, gross profit field only shows the prediction of your gain by the current rate you are applying and it not used for any further computations.

Please describe the use case.

is this prediction is based on the lat purchase rate ? if yes, then specially in Sales order , the cost may keep on varying depending on lot of factors.

Also , if items are bought for 1st time , then with above logic , it will not have any gross profit.

So, is it not a good idea to allow user to enter gross profit for correct reports of profits against order booked.
