Approved leaves not showing up in Attendance Module

I am using ERPNext via the VM. I have entered some employees and their leaves allocations. I have applied leaves for them.

But when I go to the attendance module and check the period, then those employees are still absent instead of being on vacation.

Does not the attendance module link with the leave application module and update accordingly?
