Website links

Hi,

I have the newest update as of yesterday. The links on the public side of my erpnext website reflect my ip address embedded instead of the domain name. How do I make it show URLs with domain names instead of IP address? Anything outward facing should show domain, not IP.

Also I was able to find a bug. When hitting the refresh button on the right hand side of many pages. If you push it multiple times, it creates a series of duplicated text below the button. This is not a serious issue, just happened to try it.

Again, great software.

Please advise,

fbdystang

Hi,

If you are talking about the auto generated links like in the toolbar, you should just specify say "page1.html" instead of "http://something/page1.html" in the toolbar table of website settings.

Similarly for links to pages within the erpnext generated website, you just need to specify the page name in the href part and not the whole url.

A browser uses the relative file path to generate the absolute url. So if your site is at http://localhost, a link to page1.html will show http://localhost/page1.html, if your site is at http://www.example.com, a link to page1.html will show http://www.example.com/page1.html.

Hope this clarifies the issue. Else let us know the url of the website so that we can check it out. Our website is not facing this issue, hence we are not sure if it is related to the product or your specifications of url.

Thanks,
Anand.

Hi Anand,

Can you let me know your email address so I can send my erpnext url link to you?

The relative addressing works perfect. However, my IP address (ie xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) shows up on mouse-over the links, rather than my domain name (ie www.erpnextdomain.com). So my IP is exposed to guests. The original index.html works correctly with my domain name, but the subsequent auto-generated links show my IP. In other words, my guests see http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/products.html instead of http://www.erpnextdomain.com/products.html

Thanks,

fbdystang

Which links? can you share the link with us?

This may be dependant on how you have mapped your domain in your apache settings. ERPNext will take the address from the incoming request (in most places) and there is no specific hard-coding of addresses.

If you like us to have a deeper look, please consider buying commercial support ;-) On the forum we can only help you on basis of what you can publicly share with us.

Update:

This issue had nothing to do with erpnext. It was solved with my DNS provider. Erpnext continues to be a great software package.

Thanks and I hope this helps others in the future,
