VAT removes zeros

Hello,

So I imported customers via the import tool and added their vat as well
In Greece Vat numbers can start with zeros, dont know about other countries.

So I imported the file and all VAT numbers that were starting with zeros had that digit removed.

Is this normal? Should I change something?

Sorry forget it I imported again and worked just fine.
