Uncheck 'unique' option but still get validation error

I added custom field with unique option…later I uncheck this option via customize form…but still get validation error that says the field value must be unique…

How to make the field not unique anymore?

I tried replicating the same on my side, didn’t face any issue, it works. Maybe try giving more details and screenshots of how and where you are trying to do that?
