Serial Number

Hi All,

I have setup series for item. But I don’t know ERPNext how to generate Serial Number for each item. For example, there are 5 items. The series are APL-,ORG-,STB-,PEA-,BAL- and MET-. Every item has many samples in warehouse. How to set the serial number of one sample ?

Regards,
Tomas

Hi Tomas,

Set "Has Serial No" to Yes in the Inventory section of Item form.
Please post such technical issues to our Developer's Forum.

Hi Akhilesh,

I set “Has Serial No” to Yes for each item. My question is that the “Serial no” is generated auto by ERPNext or entered by person. If I need to enter “Serial no”, please give me some instruction to complete it.

Regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Serial No is to be created manually.
Navigate to Stock > Serial No to create a serial no for an item.
To upload multiple Serial No at one time you can use Setup > Data Import.

To achieve this :
1. Download Template for Serial No table.
2. Enter data in the .csv file.
3. Upload the file using same Data Import Tool.

Hi Thomas,

We've added a feature request on github: https://github.com/webnotes/erpnext/issues/708
You can put in your comments and suggestions in this issue. You will also receive updates on the progress of this request if you do so.

For now, please follow the data import way.

Thanks,
Anand.
