Queries on Quality Control

Hi,

Has anyone setup anything on QC front? Below are some of the questions I had.

1. Do we have any module / forms/ screens to capture Quality Control (QC)/ QA? This is a very important function for our production as any contamination discovery by QC could lead to rejection of the batch.

2. Do we have any option for COA (Certificate of Analysis)? This would help us capture what all attributes (Test Parameters) on which the QC was done - whats the expected value and what was the actual value along with the amount of sample taken?

3. Would like to do QC on received material from supplier and in case the entire quantity or part quantity fail to meet the standards would like to capture that as rejected and mark the same against the PO?

Vikram,

Unfortunately there is no writeup on Quality Inspection other than in the manual. But we do have incoming Quality Inspection.

1. For that you need to set has Quality Inspection to "Yes" in the Item Master
2. Setup inspection criteria (Item Master)
3. In purchase receipt, the system will ask for a Quality Inspection record to be created before accepting the material.

Will ask Umair to make a small help on this and post it early next week.

Rushabh

Thanks Rushabh & Umair for the update.

I went through the link you had shared and this should suffice for now. Just a few confirmations.

1. I presume the number of readings is configurable using ‘customize field’ and so I can reduce or increase the number of readings?

2. Similarly the ‘Inspected by’ field can be made a lookup to add in the user name who would do the inspection?

3. While we capture the acceptance value and the reading, the user has to MANUALLY go and change it to accepted / rejected. The system would not build any check on this.

4. In case I would need to maintain different inspection criteria for different clients that would mean I would need to define different items?
e.g. Suppose my product A can be manufactured at different concentrations of 10% , 20% and 30%. Hence if my client wants 30% my inspection would have to be at 30% criteria while if another client wants at 20% my acceptance criteria would be 20%. However since its item specific this would imply I would have to define 3 item in my item master for the same product?

Can this be moved under the production module such that during production planning we could define the QC that needs to be done for that particular batch? Just a suggestion.

Hello Vikram,

My replies below.

1. I presume the number of readings is configurable using 'customize field' and so I can reduce or increase the number of readings?

Yes. By default, there will be 10 columns for reading. To reduce, you can hide columns from Customize Form. More columns can be added via Custom Fields.

2. Similarly the 'Inspected by' field can be made a lookup to add in the user name who would do the inspection?

The existing Data Field cannot be converted into link field. However, you can insert a custom field linked with profile master.

3. While we capture the acceptance value and the reading, the user has to MANUALLY go and change it to accepted / rejected. The system would not build any check on this.

May be when set final result (accepted / rejected), system can check all the values and notify user that all reading doesn't match with the acceptance criteria.

Added as suggestion on Github.

Even if you list parameters for batch, ultimately it will be for individual item only. Let's wait for the suggestions of experts on this.

Vikram, its best to make separate item codes in this case.

Hey guys! I would really like to read the doc that Umair gave (Frappe Cloud), but this link appears to be broken. Can i get an alternate link to this doc?

Thank you very much!

Hey Guys!! What I feel that as the Manufacturing Module is undergoing changes for routing, location, Machine Centres etc. there should be IN-Process Quality Control should be available along with IN-Coming and Out-Going material. In-Process QC will also cover the in-process rejections. For Process industries In-Coming, Out-Going and In-Process QC is very important since they have to track it batch-wise and in case of problem they have to track till raw material.(This is also required as per the guidance of GMP and FDA).
In Manufacturing Module it will be great if there is a provision of capturing Machine utilization as well as labour utilization or capacity planning and utilization. In this line Production Planning module will be useful to the industries.

Thanks and all are doing Great!!!

Earlier I have not seen the current ver of ERPNext. I have observed now with latest version that for Quality there are options available for IN-Coming, In-Process and Out-Going quality control. What I have not observed that there is no option for entering the tests, parameters, Max and Min values, actual results and treatment for rejection. For In-coming material rejection, there could be process of vendor correction/rectification the material on site and there will be again quality inspection.

Sometime the quality control is done on sampling basis.so need to define batch/lot, sample size, drawn sample size etc. So warehouse movement for QC is also to be considered.

There is also quality re-inspection for the material returned by the customer.

There is also QC required for Sub-contracting process.(Whether sub-contracting module available for ERPNext in Indian Context?)

Whether all these things are available in ERPNext?

Can anyone through some light on this?
