Purpose of "Variable" in Salary Structure Assignment

Hi, can anyone tell me what is the function of “Variable” in Salary Structure Assignment? Is it the max amount of variable incomes such as Allowance, Claims, etc?


Variable works the same way Base works. Let’s say you define some salary components based on formula wherein you keep base as a constant value and define some formula against the same. In the same way you can keep variable as a constant value and define a formula against the same.
