We are planning to introduce new reports in the Project module. It will help you track the project’s profitability and resource utilization better. We are looking forward to your suggested on proposed design + new reports which could be added in the Project module.
Here is the proposed report which pulls data from the Timesheets punched by the User, and suggest resource utilization for each Employee.

Project sometimes have variations. This could be billed or unbilled to the client. A mechanism is needed to add new billed variations. The income would increase and so would the cost. If unbilled then only cost will increase.
Resource allocation at the project level and then at the task level. Along with Resource utilization reports and we will need Idle Resource Reports (at company level and project level).

Mechanism to autgenerate invoices based on milestone, recurring or fixed price
In sales transaction, you can set payment terns based on milestones. In the Task, you can set it as a Milestone, and set email notification to accounts / project manager. This will alert that them Milestone level task has been completed, hence plan for billing.
Resource allocation and utilization pivot by project, by resource, by week, by task type, etc.
For Allocation, which document should we look at? Task? And then check the Timesheet created for the same time period? Can you explain the requirement with an example, please?
Expected vs actual billing on tasks by project?
For now, we don’t track expected and actual billing on Task level. Let us see if it could be accommodated. Would you be open to sponsor, if we were to do it on priority?

Which document should we refer to for allocation? Project or Task? In Project, then will it be Project End Date which will be considered?
What id dates are set, but each Task doesn’t really take a full day. Perhaps it’s 2-3 hours of task.
The idea is that an employee is allocated to a project and he should have tasks assigned to him else he is a free resource in the project. If the employee is not allocated to any project at all then he is a free resource for the company.
The project allocation can be mapped in employee doctype. I think multi-project allocation can also be considered.
I am not sure how to trace task allocation for an employee for a given project. But I guess this is possible.
