Programatically change doctype structure

I want to add more options in a Dynamic Link Field of a doctype based on condition while setting up the site.
How can this be done?
For example in the dynamic link field of topic content we haveArticle, Video and Quiz how can I add more and it remains on that specific site only it should not change the doctype structure in the main code

Changing field properties from Python

I know about the usage of cur_frm.set_df_property. Is there a Python equivalent of this function ? Also, I used frappe.make_property_setter, but it is causing errors to those who do not have create permissions on Property Setter.
