Pop up reminder for something to be done

Hello;
I am doing Taxi module.
One of the requirements is that the customer is call and book a taxi at certain time, so it is scheduled for this time.
Really email reminder is not enough. It is needed to have pop up screen for the user to remind him.
Is it possible in erpnext?
If I have to develop it, from where I can start?

If you are building a mobile app you can use push notifications.

Currently I am talking about desktop application.

If I did this customization, it will be required by ERPNext team to submit this change on the mobile application and upload it for apple store, right?
So, it will depends if the source safe of ERPNext will accept to merge the change to the ERPNext mobile application and upload it for play store.
