What is the purpose of Period Closing Voucher and it’s necessary to do it in the end of fiscal year

Hi,

I am not an account guy and looking for some clarity on Closing the FY. We have been using ERPNext V9 for an year now and need to close the last FY.

As per the manual in this link, Period Closing Voucher, it is mentioned that we should select liability account. Can someone please let me know the List of Account Heads that are to be selected in Period Closing Voucher.
