New version of ERP is not user friendly

Hi all,

We have installed the new version of ERP and it so not good as compared to the previous version.

Following points I have noticed:

1. It has become too bright, the contrast levels are way to high which strains the eye when we use it on a computer.

2. Entering of item codes is not very user friendly, and item descriptions have to be checked by opening each and every item code. So when we do a stock entry of like 40 items, each item has to be checked by opening it separately.

3. The font sizes are way to high, due to which it becomes more difficult to check an SO or an invoice on an android.

All and all, the new version needs a lot of improvement and the previous version was far and far better.

Hi Anuj,

Thanks for pointing out your issues.

1. You are right, the view has become brighter, because the contrast has reduced. Backgrounds are mostly whites and light greys. This actually improves readability when black text is used on light backgrounds, instead of dark greys like in the previous version.
Can you give it a few days? You might start to like it. Even we had a similar problem initially, but now find that it helps a lot to have a bright interface.

2. In which form are you not able to see Description? We have shown description in the Item tables by default. This could be an issue pertaining to your customisation. You can check demo.erpnext.com to compare your customisations with the default one.

3. The font sizes are large because the UI is mobile first. Most good mobile apps have large font sizes. Can you share screenshots from your android device and point out specific usability issues? You can use demo.erpnext.com so that you don't reveal your data.

Thanks,
Anand.

Hi Anand,

Actually I have also noticed some changes in new version which actually hampers the working, for example:

Earlier when we used to make any doc (SO, DN etc.) at the top of the doc it used to show the image of the person (user) who created and who modified or submitted it, but now it is all blank. I dont know why you removed this feature but it was actually very helpful.

Secondly, Comments used to show at the top of each document and it was helpful in many sense, but now one has to scroll right at the end to see the comment.

I can understand that changes are necessary, but removing features or editing those features which were very useful, has created a lot of confusion among my company’s users.

Is it a way that we can shift to the earlier version??

Regards
Anuj

Anuj,

You can raise issues on GitHub

Comment issue is already raised by Aditya:

https://github.com/webnotes/erpnext/issues/640

Unfortunately upgrade is one way.

Thats why we posted the demo etc much earlier on the list / email.

best,
Rushabh
