New Variant Item CSV Upload Example

I’m testing ERP Next for a client. They sell items that have many variants per item. I’m attempting to use the file export/import tool to aid in the process of creating the item variants. After manually creating 3 product variants, I exported the data to a CSV, modified the spreadsheet and re-uploaded the file back to ERP Next. Rather than creating 3 new variant items, it created 3 new regular items (the Item status shows “Enabled” rather than “Variant”).

Does anyone have a sample spreadsheet with the minimum required fields to create new item variants or can explain what I’m missing? This is critical functionality for this client.

I believe that I’ve figured this out already–I needed to add the “Variant of” attribute to my CSV file.
