Lead Generation

Hi,

Sales Leads are being generated for me when I send a submitted purchase order from the system. i.e. The outgoing email id becomes the contact when it sends a purchase order?

I had thought a sales lead would be generated from incoming mail not outgoing?

Please clarify.

Thanks & regards,
Sonal

Hi Sonal,

Every outgoing / incoming email creates a communication record. And the logic in communication is such that if the sender is not in Contact or Lead tables, then it will create a new Lead.

If the email you are sending to is not a Contact of that Supplier, then it will create a Lead (the reason being that Lead is your catch-all email database to whom you will send an occasional "happy new year" type of newsletter, for example we have like 9000 email ids in our Lead list - people who have given us their email or have signed up, or contacted etc).

What I can also do is that for Customer / Supplier, it will create a contact in that Customer / Supplier. Is that a better design or Lead (as a catch-all) is ok?

best,
Rushabh

This means I have to enter the supplier contact first then send the mail to avoid them coming up as leads...also there is a contact upload form so no worries leave it as is....catch all sounds good for news letters....thanks
