Issue in deleting item attribute

Dear Sir,

We need an help in solving 1 issue . While we change the item attribute template , we tried to delete 1 attribute from template but we are not able delete that attribute . Message is coming like " As there are existing transactions against item SEEPMPPUSTD-OR, you can not change the value of Maintain Stock " . So any solution you can suggest so that we can delete that attribute.
