Implementation by Functional Users

Hi, We are starting 2 retail grocery supermarket. We dont have any ERPNext experienced peple with us. We have gone for self hosting and installed Virtual Manager and got ERP Next running on a Windows System. We are currently running some test transactions to understand the workflow. It seems we can use the system to run our business. We are worried whether it is advisable to run using this Hardware configuration over Virtual manager for a live business? Please advice any implementation Life Cycle suited for small business. Thanks

Hi,

For the business use, VM will not be recommended, given the hardware durability issues.

Why not start with the hosted ERPNext account, and focus only on front-end and your retail business.

Hosted is a good option. But worried about the problems of connectivity. What is the best advisable minimal hardware config. Also any implementation manual for small businesses. Can we go live like we do with tally?

50 GB hard-disk and other hardware config complementing it should be fine to start with.

Not sure about how they go live with Tally, but on ERPNext, they go-live as soon as they discover, or in say within week or two, all on their own.

Hi, thanks for the HW details. What would be OS and the database requirements if we don’t use VM. Please advice. While running on a hosted system, can we run POS in offline if internet connection is down?

From the Bench GitHub page:

The bench is a command-line utility that helps you to install apps, manage multiple sites and update Frappe / ERPNext apps on */nix (CentOS 6, Debian 7, Ubuntu, etc) for development and production. Bench will also create nginx and supervisor config files, setup backups and much more.
If you are using on a VPS make sure it has >= 1Gb of RAM or has swap setup properly.

So basically a Server with minimum 1 GB RAM and Linux OS like Ubuntu, Debian or CentOS.

ERPNext does have offline mode in POS:
