How to Delete an Existing Company?

Is there a way to delete an existing company from the database after
creating a new one.

Hi Aditya,

To remove a company

1. Go to global defaults and set the company name to the new company
2. Click "Trash" on the toolbar of the company you want to trash. The System Manager has a role to "Trash" a company.

Hi Rushabh,

Thanks for the quick reply, I would like to point out that the I am
not able to change the default company to the newly created one, it is
saving as a blank one currently even though the mandatory fields are
filled.

Please disregard this as I am now able to change the company, I think
it was happening because the default credit period and credit limit
was not defined in the company (I think!).

Hi Aditya,

It does not allow you to trash the company since there are active records for that company - accounts, maybe transactions - whatever that came in that long list...

Company is a core property in all transactions in the system and deleting a company would mean that all those transactions are not valid. If you want to delete the company then you must cancel all the transactions too...

We will discuss this and see if there is a better way to do this, maybe an option to disable the company it.

Well I totally agree with you Rushabh on the company being the core-
group and letting someone delete it so easily would only create
accidental loss of data, but my requirement comes from the fact that I
am still testing and evaluating this software and most of the
transactions I am making are for testing purposes only. Therefore, the
question of deleting the company has arisen as and when I am
completely satisfied with the software I would like to implement this
afresh and for that I would need to delete the testing company, would
that be possible by access the back-end if for say I have the on-
premise version of your application.

Aditya Duggal.

Hi Aditya,
Yeah, it is definitely possible to delete all the testing data you have created while testing. In any case, if you are opting for an on-premise model, we would be starting afresh with a new server and database, so there shouldn't be a problem.

On the other hand, if you want to go live on the SaaS model and start fresh, we can delete all the testing data and start fresh

Hope that answers your question
