How to add special non-stock items in Sales Orders etc?

I am facing a peculiar problem, it goes like that we have a list of
about 4000 items which we keep a stock of and for which we have item
codes, but besides these 4k odd sizes we can have an almost infinite
number of special sizes which are made on order basis and are not for
stock.

Now the problem is we cannot have an item code for all the sizes which
we have never received and also there is no option of adding multiple
items of same item code more than once. (In other softwares like
Quickbooks we have a special tools item code where we just change the
item description to indicate the new kind of special item)

Now I would like to know how can we track orders, quotes, invoices of
such items. I would also like to track these items for production as
well. Is this kind of a thing possible or not?

Hi Aditya,

You can add multiple items of same item code in all transactions if the item is not stock item.
