How to add description of Various Taxes?

I am entering the taxes manually for all the sales orders but the
description field is always blank how can I edit the description and
make it permanent for the taxes like excise duty etc., since the
description field is necessary to save the sales order.

Btw I have tried to edit it in the chart of accounts but nothing
happens.

Hi Aditya,

The description field has to be filled up directly in your sales orders. Whatever you type here will appear on your print format. You do not need to go to Chart of Accounts to enter description. You can create other charges template and pull them in sales orders. Please let me know if you have any queries.

Hi Sneha,

I am entering the taxes, now I want that every time I need not enter
the description field of the taxes like Excise Duty, is there a way I
can make a description a default for these taxes.

Because every time entering the same kind of description for every tax
would be very tedious and time consuming from data entry point of
view.

Is there a way to enter the default description for the taxes?

Hi Sneha,

I think I have got what you meant.

I need to create an other charge where I can mention all the taxes and
shipping costs with descriptions and then whenever I want I can attach
that charge.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Aditya,

The way to do it, is create a master for your Tax Structure where you can club one or multiple taxes in one structure and make a template

To create a template:

1. Go to Setup -> Accounts -> Sales Other Charges
2. Create a new "Other Charges"
3. Build your template and save it with your description etc.

Next time when you make a Sales Order / Invoice, select your template and your tax structure and it will come up with all your tax descriptions etc.

Hope this was helpful.
