How do you include item code in batch number?

I thought something like {item_code}-.#### or .item_code.-.#### would work but they do not in v12.

Any suggestion

EDIT: Also is there a way to have the batch number set globally. I always want item_code-.#### but don’t want to have to rely upon someone entering it correctly every time. Putting it as the default does not work.

The answer to my second question is Batch Identification on the Stock Setting page.

Still can’t figure out the first part though.
