How CRM handle the follow up communication Between sales person and customer
There is a way to specify the next follow-up date for a contact person of a customer. ERPNext will then be able to create a TODO task for a sales manager to do the actual follow-up

if you mean the next contact section in the opportunity page is only make an event in the sales person calendar not TODO task even so how can use TODO task to manage the communication between SP and Customer and how sales manager can follow up this communication
You get that through Comments
The comments is not professional way to manage communication
