Great News!!!!

I sincerely hope that one day erpnext would surpass openerp as well, though it is still a long way ahead but I am sure the speed with which features are added to the current system I guess the time is not far away.

By the way, this brings me to one more suggestion that why not we compare erpnext to the leaders and try to add the missing functionality.

Congrats to the devs!

Good suggestion. But I get the impression WebNotes has their plate full with reacting and planning against user reaction and feedback.  I think at this point development can only be made faster with more developmental resources.

Laurence,

We are still balancing between doing "reactive" and "proactive" development. For example we are almost through with the new version 4.0.0 (still tying up loose ends).

Between us, Pratik now managed releases and production, Nabin and Akhilesh are mostly into reactive development - Anand does a bit of everything and I am fully into new development. Also everyone chips in with new development from time to time.

Where we have big bottleneck is in marketing - we now have Priya for content and that is slowly getting fixed, I am not sure how to address the marketing issue. My secret hope is that word-of-mouth will fix it, if we keep improving the product quickly enough.

best,
Rushabh

Rushabh,

I can probably chip in for Marketing, however the best approach still is the vibrant word of mouth community.

I also think that we have to press on DIY videos for migrations :

1) Tally to ERPNext
2) OpenERP to ERPNext
So on so forth, this can ensure we have more and more self help video helping spread the word of mouth.

I for example am stuck on how do I move my CA frm his traditional Tally based approach to ERPNext.

Hope this gives you some more direction upon user adoption cycle.

Mitul,

"I am stuck" is not enough. "Where are you stuck?"

This will require some patience and effort from your side. If you are able to make the switch then it can be a great case study for others and a big contribution. Please record it too :)

Also the community is there to help you. @AdityaDuggal has already made the switch

Stuck coz Tally is out of my domain expertise. I like many others are kinda relying upon their CAs who all like Tally.

However we have fairly tech savvy CA and would be interested in switching over if excited enough and having handson working on erpnext.

I can see the next set of SMEs getting converted by this CA community transformation approach.

Same stuck cause I find tally very hard to use hence don't know how to teach them to substitute.

Might I suggest although the ERPNext team does not approve - we  download tally entries at the end of every month and upload (using the fabulous new upload master) on ERPNext.

Congrats to ERPNext for getting ahead of some big competition :-)
