We need to maintain each finished gold/diamond in gram…each pcs e.g. rings, necklaces etc has different code…I tried to use serial no but it doesn’t allow fraction…so I use batch instead…

So far, I have 2 issues using batch:

  1. Batch system in ERPNext is using FIFO…when the item goes out, it doesn’t take the cost based on batch id…I think even if FIFO is used the system should use per batch id costing… Is it an system issue???
  2. No automatic creation for batch IDs for new incoming items like in serial no…User has to create each batch id one by one…If we produce hundreds of IDs at one go??

Please anybody that would like give suggestions with minimal code customization…

Just wondering can this code be Item Code since it is going to be unique to each jewelry piece?

I think it’s not a solution…as a work-around…I’ll be keep using Serial No to maintain finished items…added custom field to maintain ‘gram’ UOM inside each serial no…

I think FIFO costing for batched items needs to be fixed…
