Developer Guide 2: Chat > Writing Controllers and API : Location of chat.js

I'm following the Developer Guide 2: Chat and I'm in Writing Controllers and API. I needed to create a chat.js file and place it in website_chat/templates/includes/ to get additional chat output to show up onscreen. However, when I do so, nothing happens. I have also tried putting this file in website_chat/templates/pages alongside the chat.html and chat.py files, but with no success. What do I need to do to get these changes to appear in the browser output? Thanks!

You have to explicitly include it in your html
