Change doctype property break update?

Via developer mode I changed one field level permission in user doctype… Because it’s single doctype…not available via customize form.

But it breaks my bench update due to json change. Is this normal?

Yes, always do custom changes via Customize Form.

So, using “Customize Form” would retain the ability to update?
