ERPNext with her new web module is moving towards an easy way to
present Items/products in a web-browser, with the aim to have e-
commerce/webshop integration with the ERPNext accounting/inventory
management.

Looking at modern webshops they (almost) all have now very user-
friendly filtering/selection possibilities.

Eg European Secondhand car sites allow very intuitive and simple
filtering to select the desired vehicle from 100,000 of vehicles,
based on hierchical trees, tags, and ranges.

Eg Make: BMW; Type X5 ; ages: 3-4 years,; price Euro 10,000 -15000
Engine_type Petrol allows to quickly narrow down the vehicle one is
looking for.

I believe that the data structures/fields to allow this multiple value
selction/filtering should be considered for Products now ERPNext is
still in the early implementation/design fase.

Just one filtering criterion seems to be outdated.

Hi Robert,

Thanks again for your suggestions

Yes multiple filtering is important. We will be working on the web module for the next 2/3 weeks and you should see a lot of improvement.

Infact for the past week, we re-worked a lot of the ERPNext navigation.

Will send a separate mail on the list with work-in-progress screenshots.

best,
Rushabh

Hi Rushabh,

Would like to add a bit of things to what Robert said. I would like to suggest that this use of multiple filters should be available in the item search as well. This ways we could have like 20 custom fields in an Item and could search the item with the help of filters only and there would not be a need to remember the item code.

Currently the way we search for an item in entering the data is mainly based on search by one field and not by filtering this would give people like me the freedom to device item codes based on SERIALISATION which is a better way rather than devising a method for item codes where we have to make item code contain the data itself.

I hope you understand what I am trying to point to.

Ok we will discuss this internally and see how fast we can do this. My only concern is that it might lead to heavier searching, but I think it will also data-entry a lot more friendlier.

Rushabh
