Cannot set app permissions while editing user

So it seems after migrating to:
ERPNext: v8.x.x-beta (a06a600) (develop)
Frappe Framework: v8.x.x-beta (b72dded) (develop)

I am experiencing the following issue: while editing or creating a new user I cannot see anymore the app permissions nor the role permissions.

Also, it seems that the Show / Hide modules link from Setup / Permission - it does not work anymore. The page doesn’t load http://website/desk#modules_setup

Any ideas what can be done ?
