Campaign only applies to new Leads and not existing Customers

Hi everyone, from my understanding, the way Campaign works is that whenever I want to run a Sales Campaign, I have to tag new Leads with that particular Campaign.

The problem I found: Campaign only applies to new Leads and not existing Customers. Existing customers will be excluded from the Campaign. Is there any workaround to link Customers/Customer Group with the campaign.

For the existing customers, you can directly create new Opportunity. You can insert custom field in Opportunity for the same.
