Any other update need for V8?

I have a question , is bench update --upgrade enough to update ERPNEXT v7.2 to 8 ?

or we need to update any thing else in ubuntu ? we didn’t update ubuntu since last year , do we need to install or update python to version 3 ?

You just need to run bench update --upgrade, no need to install python 3.

As you have not updated from a long time, many patches will be run, and it can break somewhere. I will suggest you to try updating first in your local develop branch, by restoring the backup of production database.
