A good match for a watch repair and sales business?

I have been looking for someway to utilize a CRM, a true accounting system (where I can actually use it to figure my end of year taxes) and an inventory system.

In my world I have a tremendous amount of parts that I buy second hand and catalog (poorly) and then some that I buy new. I use both depending on the age of the timepiece being repaired.

I offer items for sale, but I offer much more as a service (repairs, cleanings etc.).

I’ve spent a long time looking at various pieces of software (about a year) and really like erpnext.

Does my story above sound like a good fit for erpnext? Anyone have thoughts?

(For the record I’ve looked at Dolibarr (and still do sorta), Zoho (using CRM now), webERP, as well as using Joomla & Virtuemart or PaGo and some extensions.)

You can use Support Module. Customers can raise issues. Customer Dashboard, Contacts, Communication, Warehouses and Perpetual inventory are also helpful for your case.

Any luck so far, Pete / @orionstars? We are having similar problems implementing ERPNext at our mobile device repair business.

There is not a smooth “flow” in ERPNext for dealing with a given customer’s device or timepiece as they go through the bookin process, and I don’t see an easy way to customise it without diving into code, which I will probably have to do.

Would appreciate in tips in getting it to work for you.

Still reading and experimenting - so no answers yet. Will keep this thread updated as I figure things.

The Batch setup is starting to make sense to me - buying a group of identical parts or movements - but not sure if I really need to use it there. Though maybe it provides more details for me over the long-term?

Starting to practice the workflow routine. Will post on that later.
Item numbers are my current bugaboo.

I also asked for some help here about Item Numbers and Groups.
