Hi, is there a way to modify a submitted salary structure in ERPNext V11? I am trying to include an additional component within a structure and there seems to be no way to do this? How do I achieve this if it can’t be done through modifying the existing salary structure?
Your question raises a basic key difference between a given DocType and instances of that DocType, that highlights too the ‘development’ versus ‘production’ boundary constraint.
A DocType can be customized - for eg a new field added or an existing one changed - to specify and dictate its underlying structure ‘shape’.
Each customized DocType represents a subsequent new DocType version.
However once a DocType instance has been created with Submit, the contents of that instance can only be edited with Cancel and Amend. That is, that DocType version’s instance is now fixed in production and can no longer be customized.
But you can create a new DocType version and from that new instances!
