Will this remove Powered by ERP Next?

I think that as long as you don’t claim the source as yours and change the signature removing this text has no harm.

We as community (together) gain more by improving this great App versus as standalone.

Hello Jesus,

We agree that developing ERPNext as a Community offers the greatest positive contributions.

From a Security standpoint, however, advertising the system in use increases the risk of malicious activity. We too think removing the ‘Powered by ERPNext’ text from the Website (at very least the main Landing pages) is important.

Please consider this request as we understand many more Business Clients simply cannot publish the Website with the current footer.

Sincerely,

reCIPHER Group

I disagree. Security by obscurity is what you want to do. There are so many easy methods to figure out what system framework/backend is running, by just viewing the page source.

If the website is not to be published with the current footer, then it can be removed by reviewing the code, but it won’t relieve you from security problems, if they exist.

Edit: corrected grammer and sentence construction

This is another pointer for you.

This option not for hide powered by ERP Next Footer

Add This code to your website theme

body > footer > section > div > div.row.footer-bottom-line.mt-5 > div.text-muted.small.col-
sm-6.col-12.text-right.footer-powered > a{
display:none;
}

not working bro

cd /bench/apps/erpnext/erpnext/templates/includes/footer
nano footer_powered.html

The best way to remove “Powered by ERPNext” from the free, opensource ERPNext system, would be to pay a vast amount of money for the development of a customised system.

Hahahaha. I love that response.

I know I am late to this thread, but I feel need to say this. ERPNext is amazing and everyone involved should be proud. But…

Coming from a photography background, this reminds me of a time when I was starting photography. We amateurs would watermark our “cool” photos so that no one would steal our photos. Later we figured non of the big players were doing it. We and our photos looked trashy because of it.

Now, back to software. Do you see Magento forcing their logo on the front? They don’t. Because not just that it looks unprofessional, its a security risk. Ppl try to hide what they are running on for security. But when you go to admin everyone knows its Magento.

I hope you don’t get me wrong.

I am curious to know how the logo can be a security risk?

The cheapest paid plan, the Magento Commerce Starter plan, rings in at $1,999/month, but you can quickly go up to $3,399/month for more features and more technical assistance.

Because people would easily know this is the domain that you do all your accounting on.

Well yeah, I guess big companies like Volvo use the Commerce version. But small/mid companies usually use the community version.

Sorry, you can’t do that. Read the license policy.

It’s open source. You can. Legally you can do pretty much anything as long as you redistribute the source and retain the license + attribution. :+1:

Security by obfuscation doesn’t work. That is not sufficient to knock down your fortress of gold. :grin:

Brian I agree with becoming an expert. You can’t sell a platform and keep your client if you are not an expert. Having said that i’ve been whitelabelling software for over 10 years and selling it. None of those came free. Open source isnt free either. I might white label it, but i’m not foolish enough to think I don’t need to have an expert on retainer. Is there a place where we can post things we want done. A platform like fiver ( which in this case would be 50 or 500) would be great. Any suggestions?
